The Early Grade Reading Programme (EGRP) is a combination of coaching, training and provision of LTMS and Tablets usage. EGRP being implemented in the North West Province, within the Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District (RSM). The projected was contracted to Molteno in 2021 and will end in 2023.
Through funding assistance from the Anglo-American South Africa, Molteno in collaboration with the Catholic Institute of Education have been implementing an educator development programme for educators who are teaching Numeracy, English First Additional Language and Home Language in Foundation Phase. The programme entails training and coaching of Grade 1 to 3 educators in Home Language, Numeracy and English First Additional Language (EFAL). The aim of the programme is to improve learner performance in all the above-mentioned subjects to at least 50% pass.
The Reading Support Project is a literacy programme which was implemented in partnership with the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD), Oxford University, SAIDE and VSO. Molteno role in the partnership was to develop materials as well as providing training for HoDs and subject advisors.
The Second Early Grade Reading Study (EGRS II) built on the project “Improving Early Grade Reading in South Africa” of which Molteno was not part. Its predecessor focused on early grade reading in home language.
